The OA: A Review
The Netflix Original ‘The OA’ focuses on the life of Prairie Johnson, an adopted young blind woman who resurfaces after having been missing for seven years with her sight back. Having returned Prairie now refers to herself as the OA and refuses to tell the FBI or even her parents where she was or how she got her sight back. She enlists the help of five local people who she reveals her story to in the hope that they will help her save the others she believes are in the same situation she is and in the hopes she can find Homer.
The OA is a blend of science fiction, the supernatural and fantasy. The show is a somewhat dark and at times brutal tale but is strangely enjoyable and additive. It’s hard to describe this show without spoilers, but I will also say that it’s probably a bit like marmite – you either love it or hate it. I personally loved it, the show is intriguing and enjoyable, and once you get into it the show becomes rather quite addictive. It may not be perfect; there are a few plot holes here and there but overall it is well worth watching.
