X-Files: Back for Season 10
It’s not often a show returns to TV after a 13 year gap, with its original cast , original opening credits and with a huge diehard fan base, but behold Fox has brought the X-Files back to life, yay!
Mulder and Scully (who only get better with age) are reunited as the pair begin investigating strange occurrences that have the potential to pose global threats. But is the threat extra terrestrial or is there something far more sinister and home grown at play?
This season is a very limited run of only six episodes, marketed as a six hour event. All I will say is don’t go into this Season expecting answers to all those loose ends left when the show originally ended 13 years ago. Only a couple of the episodes actually aim at the shows underlying mythology, and those episodes are fast paced and in all honestly use the story the X-Files previous laid out in the first 9 seasons and turn into something intriguing, thought provoking taking the show in a new direction.
The other episodes in the limited run take the show back to what it did best, with the two lead investigations strange phenomena with the mix of science and the unknown. All in all, when the dust settles on the series (and you’ve picked your jaw back up off the floor) it is nice to see these characters back on the small screen. I was raised on the X-Files and other cult TV shows so for me it’s like reliving my youth in all its wonderful glory.
