Vampire Ball Celebrity Party

Last October SetBeyond.TV (Jamie and I) attended Sean Harry’s Vampire Ball in London. It was great to see the special guests from Buffy, Angel, and True Blood:

Nicholas Brendon – Xander in Buffy
Julie Benz – Darla in Buffy & Angel
Clare Kramer – Glory in Buffy
Mark Metcalf – The Master in Buffy
J. August Richards – Charles Gunn in Buffy & Angel
Keith Szarabajka – Daniel Holtz in Angel
Georges Jeanty – Graphic novel artist for Buffy
Mariana Klaveno – Lorena Krasiki in True Blood
Allan Hyde – Godric in True Blood

Although we wore our “unofficial” press passes, we were really just there for fun – and we certainly had plenty of that. We met some great people, saw some wonderful fancy dress costumes, and even got a little very drunk. I’m usually quite reserved, but did get up on the dance floor for the first time ever!

We went all out with the expense account and flew BA, then travelled around London in a chauffeur driven Mercedes – although there were cutbacks for the next event where Jamie had to make his own way by bus; taking 9 hours compared to our 45 minute flight!

Splashing the cash was fun in itself as the celebrities often walked to and from the hotel, while we had a concierge and driver waiting outside all suited up and calling us “Sir” (we still ate at McDonalds so it didn’t go to our heads!)

But the best part of the trip for me was seeing the characters from shows that we’ve all grown up with just wandering around the corridors of the hotel, having the odd cigarette, and standing in the queue at the bar for a pint of lager. They were all so friendly, and the whole event was excellent – definitely recommended for anyone who likes these kind of shows (or maybe just a bit of fancy dress – see our Editor “Jamie” below):

I even had my first ever “starstruck” moment and blushed when I caught a smile from Clare Kramer (Glory) – and I’ve met the Queen, so that just shouldn’t happen!

Definitely looking forward to the next celebrity party invite!
