Buffy: Top 5 Episodes
Buffy has some incredible story lines, including tragic tear-jerkers, classy cliff-hangers and just great entertainment! The trouble with Buffy is that there are so many good episodes! But, here are some of the best examples:
5) Graduation Day Parts 1&2
This episode was a huge turning point in the series. Action-packed, heartbreak as Angel leaves the series, joy at surviving what was probably the hardest opponent Buffy had to face, and living through high school. This was a perfect ending to the earlier episodes, and a great beginning to the ones to come.
The final episode in the series, and god did Joss Whedon finish the show with a bang! It summed up the show perfectly, with unbelievable special effects and action. There are some tear-jerkers, such as the death of Anya and countless Potential Slayers/Slayers. The destruction of Sunnydale symbolised a new beginning for all of the characters. Hilarious dialogue, kick-ass stunts and tons of demons really do bring the series to a close, and lets us remember the best parts of the show.
3) The Gift
Another action packed episode, this is emotional and shocking. This episode was rumoured to be the end of the show, and could have been, as this was the last episode of Buffy on WB. Thankfully we got a few more seasons afterwards. This episode shows how much Buffy cares for her sister Dawn, who just came into her life weeks beforehand, as Buffy kills herself to save her.
2) Once More, With Feeling
It’s evident that a lot of effort was put into making this episode. Not only were the songs well written, but they were well sung too, and all the lyrics made sense. We also see a HUGE plot turner in this episode – Buffy and Spike’s first kiss. Jam-packed with humour, action and…Well…songs, this episode are definitely one to watch.
This is definitely the best episode of the whole series, without a doubt. If someone came to me who had never seen Buffy, this is the episode I would show them to get them hooked. Whedon and the rest of the Buffy Crew pulled off a very dangerous stunt – making this episode almost speech-free. This is also one hell of a scary episode. With their plastered on grins and their weird straight-jacket followers they are the scariest demons ever to fill our screens. Not only is this a scary episode, but we also get a huge part of the Buffy story added to it as Riley finds out that Buffy is a little “different” from other girls.
